In the moments between life and death, a promise for second chances can be found at the crossroads.

Petitioners come to the crossroads seeking a promise for more time. To take care of their loved ones. To not fear death again. You, as the Keeper of the Crossroads, have a simple enough job. You offer promises in exchange, and bind these promises so that the souls can be collected.

But now someone else has found your crossroads, and wishes to exchange promises. Someone

alive.

References to death, murder, abandonment, adultery, and abuse.

'Reaper.' 'Crossroad devil.' 'Demon.' 'Death incarnate.' You've been called many things, but none are quite true to what you are. The holder of thousands of promises and second chances, you are a dealer in promises. They make theirs, you make yours. As long as they keep up their end, you'll keep yours.

But is there more to you than being a dealer of promises and hope?

A living man who wanders into your crossroads, seeking promises. He's definitely not your traditional clientele, and the more you see of him, the more sure you are that he has ulterior motives for coming to your crossroad.

The voice inside your skull, the claws at your back, and sometimes the large shadowy manifestation that appears in your crossroads to make sure you meet your quotas. You know he collects the souls you collect with your dealings, but what he does with those souls are anyone's guess.

Spirits that have come to the crossroads between the inhale and exhale of their last breath to deal for a second chance. Some are worthy, and some aren't-- it's up to you to decide.
